The ITV regulations updated to version 7.7.0 of the ITV Procedure Manual will come into force on 20 May and come with significant and mandatory changes: the inspection of the emergency call system (eCall) and OBFCM (On-Board Fuel Consumption Meter) data collection.
The inspection of the eCall system is mandatory for the vehicles that have been approved a as of 31 March 2018. Regular inspection of eCall is essential to ensure that it functions correctly throughout the lifetime of the vehicle.
On the other hand, OBFCM data collection, a new feature that will allow MOTs to collect anonymised fuel consumption data, has been introduced. and electrical energy of vehicles. This measure will help to establish road safety and environmental protection strategies based on actual vehicle performance. The European Commission calls on Member States to collect this data at the MOT stations from 20 May 2023.
